Banarasi Art Silk Saree with Zari Buta - Maroon

A festive saree that gives you the look of a classic Banarasi without the weight or the price. It is woven in art silk with a soft sheen, scattered with small gold-toned zari butas across the body and finished with a broad woven border and an ornate pallu with paisley and floral motifs.

Details

• Saree length 5.5 metres plus a 0.8-metre unstitched blouse piece in matching maroon with zari
• Width about 1.1 metres
• Weighs roughly 550 grams, so it is comfortable for long weddings and pujas
• Zari is metallic (tested) thread, not real gold or silver

Draping and styling

Art silk drapes smoothly and holds pleats well. Pin the pleats at the waist and the pallu at the shoulder for a neat finish. Pair it with gold or kundan jewellery, a contrast blouse in mustard or bottle green for a modern twist, and embroidered juttis.

Care

Dry clean only for the first wash. Store folded in a muslin or cotton cloth rather than plastic, and refold along different lines every few months so the zari does not crack. Keep away from perfume and deodorant sprays, which can tarnish metallic threads.
